Baku hosts 6th meeting of Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Intergovernmental Commission

The 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Economic and Humanitarian Cooperation between Azerbaijan and Kyrgyzstan was held in Baku.

The meeting, chaired by Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister, Co-Chairman of the Commission from the Azerbaijani side, Samir Sharifov, and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic, Co-Chairman of the Commission from the Kyrgyz side, Bakyt Torobaev, was attended by representatives of the relevant state authorities of both countries.

A bilateral meeting of the co-chairs of the Intergovernmental Commission was first held, followed by the discussions in an expanded format.

The sides emphasized that the historical and cultural ties uniting two fraternal and friendly peoples, the regular political dialogue and reciprocal visits between Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Sadyr Japarov played a decisive role in elevating relations to the level of strategic partnership.

They noted that the cooperation program for 2024-2029 serves as the key roadmap for the systematic expansion of bilateral relations.

During the first ten months of 2025, trade increased by more than 94 percent compared to the same period last year.

The sides hailed activity of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyz Development Fund. It was mentioned that the expansion of joint investment projects, the establishment of the Azerbaijan-Kyrgyzstan Business Council between AZPROMO and the Kyrgyz Chamber of Commerce and Industry, supporting the construction of a five-star hotel on the shores of Issyk-Kul lake, as well as review of the project to create a resort city were agreed upon.

An agreement was also reached on the implementation of the "Roadmap for 2024-2025" in the energy sector, enhancing cooperation between SOCAR and Kyrgyzstanneftegaz, and the continuation of mutual efforts on issues such as Kyrgyzstan's participation in the "Central Asia - Azerbaijan Green Energy Corridor" project.

The sides agreed to hold the 7th meeting of the Commission in Kyrgyzstan.

Azerbaijan’s Deputy Prime Minister Samir Sharifov and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev signed the Protocol of the 6th meeting of the Joint Intergovernmental Commission on Cooperation in the Economic and Humanitarian Fields between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Kyrgyz Republic.

Following the meeting, members of the Intergovernmental Commission from the Kyrgyz Republic familiarized themselves with "Azercosmos" Space Agency.

On December 9, the Kyrgyz delegation will visit the Baku Shipyard LLC and Heydar Aliyev Oil Refinery.
